The pandemic has been exceptionally hard for teachers and students because many districts did not have access to the resources they needed to provide rigorous and equitable learning experiences for all students in response to this crisis. Luckily, the second round of the Cares Act is providing additional funding to school districts. The goal of this program is to give students an opportunity to learn more during this coming summer and into the following school year.
CARES Act Funding Opportunities
This is great news because you can use Cares Act funding to:
- Provide STEM teachers with the high-quality instructional materials they are asking for.
- Offer STEM acceleration academies this summer for students in grades 3-12.
- And, perhaps most importantly, provide STEM teachers with the professional learning experiences they need to be successful in the years to come.
ADI just finished updating and revising our instructional materials in science, math, and engineering so they can now be used for either in-person, remote, or hybrid instruction. These materials are research-based and easy for teachers to use. They are also one of the best ways to ensure that all students in grades 3-12 learn how to use the core ideas and practices of science, mathematics, and engineering to figure out phenomena or solutions to authentic problems.
ADI STEM summer acceleration academies for students can be offered either in-person or remote. They are taught by expert teachers using research-based instructional materials in science, math, or engineering and help inspire a love of learning. The topic and length of each academy can also be tailored to meet the needs of the students in your district to ensure that all participating students have a rigorous and equitable learning experience this summer.
Finally, our professional learning experiences for STEM teachers invite them to participate in the same inquiry-based learning that we want students to experience. These professional learning experiences are designed to encourage teachers to rethink what is possible in their class and will help them develop the knowledge and skills that they need to feel comfortable using ADI instructional materials. We can provide these experiences in-person, remote, or hybrid.
