Next Steps Workshops
Our Next Steps workshops are designed to help educators learn new teaching practices that will help them get the most out of the Argument-Driven instructional model. Teachers will have opportunities to examine student work, learn how to facilitate productive discussions, and practice teaching the different stages of an ADI lab. The table below outlines the elements of our one, two, and three day Next Steps workshops.

One-Day Next Steps
During a One-Day Next Steps ADI Workshop, participants will:
- participate in a refresher ADI investigation
- practice writing and critiquing arguments
- develop shared standards for what counts as a high-quality investigation report
- plan for teaching an ADI investigation in their own classroom
Two-Day Next Steps
Our Two-Day Next Steps Workshop includes all of the elements of our one-day workshop, plus time to:
- learn how to examine student investigation proposals and arguments in order to be more responsive to student needs
- gain ADI teaching experience by preparing for and rehearsing teaching at least one stage of an ADI Investigation
- receive feedback about how they facilitated an ADI investigation
- reflect upon the ADI teaching process
Three-Day Next Steps
Our Three-Day Next Steps Workshop includes all of the elements of our two-day workshop, plus time to:
- learn talk moves to facilitate better whole-class discussions
- prepare the materials that will be used to facilitate a whole class explicit and reflective discussion
- rehearsal teach an explicit and reflective discussion
- establish classroom norms that foster productive classroom talk
